Marcella Archibeque

February 1, 1924 — January 10, 2019

Archibeque, Marcella (Sally)

Marcella (Sally) Archibeque, born February 1, 1924, went to be with Our Lord on January 10, 2019.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sisters and "Nino" her beloved husband for 70 years. Nino called Marcella "Sal" and now he has his "Sal" back with him in heaven. As a wife of a Bataan Death March survivor, Marcella needed a tremendous amount of strength during the time her husband was a prisoner of war. She waited with her infant son three years for him to return home from the POW war camps in the Philippines.

Marcella was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister in law and friend who was always giving and ready to help those in need. She was a Christian who was very devoted to our Lord. Her primary interest in life was her family who she loved very much. She instilled strength, love and faith in her family and touched the hearts of many with her kind, tender and loving spirit. She treasured her time with her sisters, Emma, Toni and Alice and was always there for them. Marcella enjoyed cooking, gardening and always made time to care for those in her life who were not well.

Marcella is survived by her son, David Archibeque (wife, Olivia); grandchildren, Mark Archibeque, Deanna Torres (husband, James); great granddaughter, Donie Torres and many nieces and nephews.

Our family would like to thank Dr. Ricardo Ortega for the extraordinary care he provided. Special thanks to her niece, Lorie Reynolds, who was always there to give loving care and attention. Also, thanks to Felipa and Celia for all the help they provided during her illness.

A celebration of life will be held on January 21, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 309 Stover Ave. SW. The services will include a Rosary beginning at 9:15 followed by the Mass at 9:30 am. Internment to take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 10:30 am.
