Age 94, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2021. She was born in Starkville, MS on August 7, 1926. She was a devout Christian and enjoyed bible study. One of Lucille's greatest joys was earning her associates degree in bible study. Lucille enjoyed sewing, making quilts, baking cakes from scratch and fire ceramics that she painted. Lucille was a born entertainer and hostess. She loved to host birthday parties and celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas. She was the most thoughtful gracious host. She was a loving mother and generous beyond compare, she was truly unmatched.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lilly Mae Ward; husband, David Nicks; son, Ronald Keith Nicks.
Lucille is survived by her children, Brenda Phillips and her husband, Rubin, and, David Lewis Nicks, Bertha Lucille Bridges and her husband, Kerry, Ivan Christopher Nicks and wife, Jody; grandchildren, Shawn and wife, Isabel, Janell and husband, Duriel, Steven and wife, Danielle, Audrey, Alicia, Leslie, Jasmine, Erica and husband, Rico, Ronald Jr. "R J" and wife, Ally, Elisa "Jordan", Dionne, Jamila, Dequanna, Ivan Ladre; great grandchildren, Janea, Jaylah, Mario, Steve Jr., Benjamin, Alexis, Jayme Jr., Aunestie, Solon, Shiloh, Imani, Ayzia, Ronald III, Julianne, Kayla, Alex, Diamon, Daijah, Amir, Sanai, Cristaino, Amaya; siblings, Maudine Dickson, Annie Ruth Nicks, Lilly Burton, Nell Childress. Special thanks to family friend, Dorothy Griffin.
A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Strong Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE. A Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at 11:00 am at Strong Thorne Mortuary with burial to follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park.
