Lopez, Julian G.

December 12, 1932 - October 13, 2019

On Sunday October 13, 2019, Julian G. Lopez, loving great-grandfather, grandfather, father, brother and uncle, passed away at the age of 87. Julian was born December 12, 1932 in the town of Escabosa, New Mexico. He later relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he raised his family in the Old Town District while working as a woodworker in the lumber industry.

Julian was a man of strength and ingenuity. He worked well with his hands and could build just about anything if you asked him to. As he grew in age, he never stopped working and spent his retired days doing what he loved, creating. Anyone that knew Julian knew one of his great passions in life was fishing. Times he would spend fishing with his family seemed to go on endlessly through the early mornings and well into the night. Much of his family learned a lot from this man and he was a teacher, a teacher who guided his family, showing strength, creativity, determination and of course heart. From fighting hard times, to fighting fish and eventually fighting to his final breath, that’s the kind of man he was, a fighter. He never gave up on anything or anyone and that is the spirit he will leave with his family, the spirit to fight, to have strength and above all others, the spirit to love one another.

Julian was preceded in death by parents, Beneranda T Lopez and Jose B Lopez; his son, William Lopez and son-in-law, Willie Gallegos; sisters, Eumelia Lopez, Rosenda Stricklin, Maria Benedicta Fulton, Elvira Parker, and Rafaelita Romero; brothers, Adan Lopez, Albert Lopez, and Leonard Lopez.

Julian is survived by daughters, Jacqueline Lopez Gallegos, Camilla Casias and husband, Jerry Casias of Montrose, CO; sons, Jeffery C Lopez and significant other, Patricia Hernandez, Jeral A. Lopez, Jerry A. Lopez; sisters, Maria Del Carmen Martin of Albuquerque and Jolanda Lopez of Peralta, NM; brothers, Orlando Jose Lopez and wife, Juanita of Los Lunas, NM; grandsons, Julian J Lopez and significant other, Florence Luna, Jeffery Lopez and wife, Kay of Portland Texas, Jeremy Lopez, Justin Lopez and wife, Candice, Travis Lopez, Mariano Lucero, Corey Chandler; granddaughters, Kandise Casias, Shari Gilliam, Shannah Teupell and husband, Curtis; great grandchildren, Corinna Lopez, Jacklyn Dillingham, Amaya Garcia, Jessica Simmons, Aubrey Lopez, Layla Jones, Railynn Lopez, Anthony Michael Giron, Greyson Lee Bruce, Jacob Velasquez, Jaylen Velasquez; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

All are welcome to join in the celebration of Julian’s wonderful life as we share memories, laughter, tears, and a meal of all the foods Julian loved. Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 1pm at his home at 5701 Morgan Ln, NW, Albuquerque, NM 87120.
