Gerald Lee Schaeffer, 63, passed away on January 1, 2022, after lengthy health issues. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents: Ramona Bernal Schaeffer and Ronald Earl Schaeffer. He is survived by son Ryan and daughter Nicole, both of Albuquerque, NM; Brother, Ronald Gary Schaeffer and sister-in-law Dr. Ann Vail of Lexington, KY; nephews, Paul Anthony Schaeffer and Luis Antonio Coronel of El Paso, TX, and niece Denise Alanna Schaeffer of Dickson, TN, as well as aunts and uncle, Josephine Sanchez of Las Cruces, and Lee Robert and Rose Bernal of Truth or Consequences, NM, and many cousins. Gerald Lee Schaeffer was an accomplished chess player with an approximate 2100 ranking from FIDE. He was an avid sports enthusiast and devoted to his teams.
