Tomasita "Tommie" Tapia

Tommie Tapia passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Rust Hospital in Rio Rancho, NM after a long illness. On April 7, 1948, Tommie was born in Albuquerque, NM to Charles and Rosella Tapia. Tommie was a lifelong educator, teaching at Alameda Elementary School for 42 years and touching the lives of hundreds of children. 

 

She was preceded in death by her mother, Rosella Tapia; her father Charles Tapia; two infant brothers. Tommie is survived by her siblings Carolyn Tapia, Maxine Harris and wife, Elena Boone, Antoinette Young and husband Denny, Lawrence and wife, Jacqueline, Mary and Paul Romero; 11 nieces and nephews. 

A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at 9:30 am at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church, 2005 N. Plaza Street NW, with mass to follow at 10:00 am. Everyone is invited to the reception after the mass at the San Jose Duranes Parish Hall, 2110 Los Luceros Road NW. In lieu of flowers please kindly consider making a donation to the National Kidney Foundation.
