Theresa M. Villanueva

Theresa M. Villanueva, a devoted caregiver, loving mother, and cherished grandmother, passed away peacefully in Albuquerque on August 26, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on February 4, 1934, in Sena, New Mexico, she spent her life nurturing both her family and those she cared for at El Porton Nursing Home.

Throughout her life, Theresa exemplified the virtues of kindness and compassion, dedicating herself not only as a caregiver but also as a devoted housewife. Her commitment to others went beyond professional duties; she was a pillar of strength and love within her family. Theresa found profound joy in spending time with her grandchildren, creating lasting memories that will be treasured by all who had the pleasure to know her.

A woman deeply rooted in her faith, Theresa was unwaveringly devoted to her Catholic religion. Her beliefs guided her actions, shaping her as a loving figure to her family and community. She embodied the values of love, sacrifice, and service, serving as an example for everyone she met.

Theresa is survived by her loving daughter, Jennifer Garcia; her son, Blake Villanueva; her adored grandchildren; and numerous relatives who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leandro Villanueva, her father, Ollie Hern, and her mother, Rita Flores Hern.

As we remember Theresa's bright spirit and dedicated life, may we carry forward the lessons of love and compassion that she so graciously shared with us all. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who had the blessing of knowing her.

Visitation will be held on September 8, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Garcia Mortuary in Albuquerque, followed by a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Service will take place on September 9, 2025, at 9:00 AM, also at Garcia Mortuary, culminating in a burial at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:30 PM.

Though her presence will be greatly missed, Theresa M. Villanueva's spirit will live on in the hearts of her loved ones and all whose lives she touched.
