Theresa Yvonne Romero, a devoted wife, loving daughter, caring sister and friend to many passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024, at the age of 71. Theresa led a life filled with accomplishments and treasured moments.
Theresa married her husband George A. Romero (dec.) in 1971. During their 52-years together, they created a special bond based on love, trust, and unwavering support. For over four decades, they worked side by side to establish and nurture several successful businesses, which included the Feed Store of Edgewood, Romero Lumber in Albuquerque and Cart Away Concrete in Edgewood.
Theresa supported her husband in every way a wife could. When George was out of town on a job and needed anything, whether it be a part to a piece of machinery or additional supplies to finish a job, Theresa would pack up her car and travel with the item to ensure George had what he needed to be successful. In later years, when her health was failing, she would make certain George was taking his medication, schedule his doctor visits and when George could not drive, she would arrange for him to get to and from doctors. Her selflessness and dedication to George were evident in her every action to make sure he was happy and taken care of.
From the earliest memories, Theresa stood as a beacon of warmth and kindness. As a sister, she was a confidante and a friend, always there to offer guidance and support. To her nieces and nephews, she was more than an aunt; she was a mentor, a source of joy and a pillar of unconditional love. Her ability to listen and her boundless encouragement shaped many lives in ways words cannot fully capture.
Theresa loved children and treated every child as if they were her own. She enjoyed keeping sodas, snacks and chips available for all who visited “Grandma’s” house. She loved animals and her dogs were her babies. Not only did she know the meaning of unconditional love, empathy and compassion but she lived it every day of her life. She was often caught smiling, laughing and she never held a grudge. Her presence in our lives was a testament to the enduring love, care, and family.
Theresa was preceded in death by her father Frank Zamora Sr., husband George A Romero and her beloved dog “Blanca”.
Theresa enjoyed spending time with her cherished family members. The presence of her devoted mother Petrita Zamora and siblings, brothers Sosteno Zamora Sr. (Viola), Sammy Zamora Sr. (Carmen), Frank Zamora Jr. (Jane), David Zamora Sr. (Dorrie), Richard Zamora Sr., sisters Juanita Zamora, Rachel Martinez (Larry), Gloria Vargas (Alfonso), Rosemary Garley (Tony), Rebecca Cordova (Wayne) along with 14 godchildren, uncles, aunts, cousins, numerous nieces and nephews brought immense joy to her days. The sense of unity shared among them created unforgettable memories that will be treasured forever.
Theresa loved her parents immensely. When her father passed away, she was with her mother every day. She took her everywhere she went, Estancia, Edgewood, Belen, etc. They would go to casinos both in and out of Albuquerque. Theresa spent the last 2 years of life at her mom’s. When she passed, her mom was holding her hand.
