Ruben Ruiz, age 83, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away at home peacefully on November 20, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born in Ilfeld, NM on March 5, 1939. He grew up there with his five siblings where he attended Pecos High School. He moved to Albuquerque in 1956 and enlisted in the Army on March 10, 1958. He married the love of his life, Stella Griego, on November 10, 1960 and purchased their family home in Albuquerque where he lived his entire married life. Ruben was dedicated to his faith, his church and his family. He loved his children and grandchildren immensely and nothing made him happier than to spend time with them. He was passionate about helping the poor and worked at St. Vincent De Paul for many years. He later worked at Jim Kelly Counseling and he has played a significant role in sponsoring hundreds of members in AA, many of those people have become dear friends of our family. He also loved music and was very talented in playing several instruments, but the guitar held a special place in his heart.

Ruben is preceded in death by his parents, Andres and Eumelia Ruiz; his sisters, Sister Rosa and Albina; and his granddaughter, Alannah. He is survived by his brothers, Arcenio and Benny; and by his sister, Carmen, his wife of 62 years, Stella; and his children, Ruben, Dee Ann (Nancy), Melissa (Anthony), Erica (Craig), Leola (Lance) and Rae Neva (John); his grandchildren, Jessica, Jamie (Steven), Samantha, David, Ayden, Valarie (Jake), Victoria, Tyler, Mackenzie, Alexiss, Olivia, Gus and Jack and his great-grandchildren, Jada, Noah, Alyssa, Isabel, Emma, Aiden and Pryia.

A Final viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 8:30 am with a Rosary to be recited at 9:00 am and a Mass to be celebrated at 9:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 309 Stover Avenue SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102. Interment will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 08, 2022.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Castillo, Craig Amundson, Lance Adams John Roumpf, Tyler Amundson, David Ruiz, Ayden Castillo and Steven Santistevan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gus and Jack Roumpf and his Dawn Patrol family.
