In loving Memory of Rosendo “Ross” Lucero, SSG (Ret.)

Rosendo Lucero, age 92, of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on December 15, 1933, to Isidro and Virgina Lucero, Ross lived a life defined by duty, honor, and a profound love for his country and family.

Ross proudly served in the United States Army for 23 years, retiring with the rank of SSG. completing a tour in Vietnam alongside three additional overseas deployments. Following a well-earned military retirement, Ross returned to his roots in Barela’s and took on a new role as a corrections officer, demonstrating his lifelong commitment to public service.

At the center of his world was his family. Ross and his beloved wife, Ida Lucero, were married for 62 beautiful years, creating a welcoming home and a wonderful life together.

Though he is preceded in death by his mother, father, and four siblings, his legacy lives on brightly. He is survived by his devoted wife, Ida; their five children, Darlene Pacheco and her husband Patrick, Stella Chavez, Ross Lucero, Sid Lucero, and Pamela Miller and her husband Kevin. His spirit and legacy of love will carry forward through his 11 grandchildren, including Patrick Pacheco, Brittany Sanders, Amber Lucero, Miranda Lucero, Heather Lucero, Trini Lucero, Alex Lucero, Rosco Lucero, Kevin Miller, Dylan Miller, and Candice Chavez, as well as his 10 great-grandchildren who brough him immense joy.

Ross leaves behind a legacy of dedication, resilience, and profound love. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

A funeral service to honor Ross’s life will be held on June 10th at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Ross will be laid to rest with full military honors at National Cemetery in Santa Fe.
