In Loving Memory of Rosemary De Lara

Rosemary De Lara, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home on May 3, 2025, at the age of 79.

A lifelong resident of Placitas, New Mexico, Rosemary was known for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and community. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 61 years, Paul De Lara; her parents, Bernardo and Lucy Marquez; and her brother Eddie.

She is lovingly survived by her sister Grace, her two sons, Paul Anthony and his wife Christina, and Jason and his wife Tina. Rosemary’s legacy continues through her seven grandchildren—Aaron & Emily, Ashley and David Rodriguez, Monica & Luis, and Esperanza—and five great-grandchildren: Dominic, Abby, Lily, Joaquin, and Elisa. She is also survived by her brother-in-laws Charlie of Placitas, Hector of Placitas and Jeffrey of Clarksville, TN; her sister Vivian of Placitas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Rosemary dedicated many years of her life to Bernalillo Schools, where she worked with care and commitment until retirement. She was an active member of her community, especially through the Placitas Senior Center, where she found joy in friendship and laughter. Rosemary had a special passion for Project Linus, creating blankets for children in need, and she also supported the food pantry at St. Felix when her health allowed.

She treasured her time spent at the Fiestas de San Lorenzo, sharing food and stories with friends, and found great comfort in her faith and heritage. Her loyal dog, Skippy, was a cherished companion.

Rosemary will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Rosary and Memorial Service will be held on May 16th at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Bernalillo, followed by a reception. Interment will take place at a later date at San Antonio de Las Huertas Cemetery in Placitas, where Rosemary will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, Paul.
