Rivas, Ramon Jr.

Ramon Rivas, Jr., (Shorty and Boy) age 67, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 5, 2018 in his hometown of Albuquerque, NM.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ramon Rivas, Sr., his mother, Dorothy Rivas; his sister, Rosemary Tafoya, and his son, Charles Ray Rivas.

He is survived by many cousins and family members, including his sister, Elizabeth Rivas; and his nieces, who he helped raise, Angela and Crystal Rivas. He’s also leaving behind his faithful dog, Nugget.

Ramon was an enthusiastic and unwavering fan of the Broncos and Elvis he enjoyed relaxing at home with his loved ones, a word search puzzle, and a cold beer. He graduated from Rio Grande High School in 1969 and spent time working and making people laugh at Associated Grocers, Roosevelt A Montoya Elementary, and Polk Middle School.

He will be greatly missed by everyone who loved and knew him - it was nearly impossible for him to hop on the city bus or go to the grocery store without making a new friend.

His family would like to thank all of the staff at Rio Las Estancias for caring for him in his final days.

A Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 am on February 16, 2018 at Garcia Mortuary Chapel of Angels, on the corner of 8th and Iron with a Rosary to be recited at 11:00 am followed by a Funeral Service at 11:30 am.
