On March 19, 2018 our beloved Rachel Silva passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.

Rachel was born in Torreon, NM to Antonio and Dolores (Lola) Lujan, she was the eldest of 11 brothers and sisters. Rachel treasured her childhood memories of growing up on the ranch and carried the values instilled by her parents of hard work, love of family and God with her throughout her life.

She met her dear love Alex Silva at a fiesta dance in Torreon, NM. The young couple married and moved to Albuquerque to start their life together. God blessed them with three beautiful children, B. Gabriela, Gillie and Mike. They built their family business in 1945 "Silva's Food Market". Rachel owned and operated the neighborhood store for over 50 years, which became an iconic landmark in the Barelas community. Sadly Rachel lost Gillie in 1955, was widowed in 1963, lost Mike in 1999 and all her brothers over the years.

Rachel loved spending time with friends and family but, her greatest legacy and love were her three children; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; three sisters, Erlinda, Elvira, Teresa and numerous nieces and nephews, who she referred to affectionately as her "Baby Dolls".

Grandma Rachel's life journey had many challenges and many joys. She lived her life to the fullest and was grateful for God's blessings. She enjoyed traveling, visiting, lively music and was up for any adventure, but her favorite was being surrounded by her "Baby Dolls" and caring for children. Grandma touched our lives in everything she did, we will miss her dearly.

A Rosary will be recited on Monday, April 2, 2018 8:00 am with a Mass to follow at 9:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 1860 Griegos Rd. NW. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. To view information or leave a condolence please visit www.danielsfuneral.com
