IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rachel
Medina
June 11, 1932 – March 2, 2026
Rosary
Our Lady of Fatima Church
9:30 - 10:30 am (Mountain time)
Followed by eulogy and mass.
Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
Rachel was the youngest of nine children of a beautifully blended family. A strong newly immigrated family was rich in family traditions and love. As the youngest, Rachel proudly cared for older siblings and parents as they aged while raising her only daughter, Antoinette. Rachel Medina took being a care giver as an honor and often found joy while caring for others. “Auntie Rachel,” as she was traditionally referred to would open her home with love and warm food. She often cared for many of her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. Her daughter often comments, “although I was an only child, my house was always full of family, laughter, and of course cooking”
Rachel enjoyed many passions and interests, cooking for her family was one. Once you walked through Rachel’s door, she would have a meal already warming up and/or preparing a meal with love. Her faith in God was not only a passion, but she actively poured into her faith. She loved reading books about Heaven, inspirational quotes and daily Biblical affirmations.
She is survived by her daughter, Antoinette Willis, grandchildren: Jason Willis (Olga), Maria Willis, Faye Magsby (Rashad), Anthony Willis (Sarah), Mike Willis (Heather), fourteen great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren Sister-in-Law, Georgia Arias, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Juanita and Lalo Arias Sr., husband Juan F. Medina, Sisters, Cristina Arias, Cesaria Sanchez, Vicentita Arias, Eloida Aguila, Isabel Terrazas, Margaret Martinez, brothers, Joe Estudillo and Lalo Arias Jr., Son-in- Law James Willis.
She took great joy in her family and particularly enjoyed spending time with her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a very kind loving person. She was a good friend, a caring mother, grandmother, auntie. We will miss her so much, but she’s at peace and resting now.
Prior to retiring, Rachel worked at Pioneer Wear as a seamstress and Excelsior Laundry and Dry Cleaning.
Services will be Friday, April 10th, 2026, at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd NE. Rosary at 9:30 am followed by eulogy and mass.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gerard Muraida at PACE Innovage, as well as the caring and compassionate team at High Desert Hospice. All are truly angels on earth.
