Mary Louise, born May 9, 1924, passed away March 8, 2016 surrounded by her family. Mary Louise was well known in the Barelas area, having lived there her whole life. She was employed for 30 years at the Corps of Engineers. Mary Louise was a long time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling, ceramics and playing bingo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Elisa Chavira; brothers, Ralph, Herman, Roy, Willie and sister Lucy Martinez.
She is survived by her sisters, Carmen Nunez and Dolores Cortez as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Rosary will be recited on Friday, March 11, at 7:00 p.m. at Garcia Mortuary ~ Chapel of Angels on the corner of 8th and Iron. A Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 12, 2016, 10:00 am, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 309 Stover Ave SW. Interment to follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews Paul Nunez, Evan Chavira, Albert Nunez, Fred Chavira, Patrick Baca and Ruben Cortez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Andrew Cortez, Manuel Cortez and Anthony Baca.
