Sanchez, Margaret M.
Margaret Sanchez was born in Simpson, Pennsylvania in 1922 and grew up on a dairy farm near Waymart, Pennsylvania. She attended a one-room school, and graduated as her high school valedictorian. She moved to Washington, D.C. for work. During WWII she joined the Navy as a Wave. When she returned to D.C. after the war, she met her husband, Ben Sanchez. They were married forty-four years until Ben’s death in 1993. Margaret was active in many Catholic Church activities. She is survived by nine children, including three sets of twins: David and wife, Nadine; Jane and husband, Christopher Freitas; Dorothy and husband, Phillip Medrano; Michael; Karen; Denise and husband, Anders Barfod; Mary and husband, Joseph Benney; Bernard and wife, Margie; and Anne. She is also survived six sisters, one brother, 18 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben, one sister and two brothers. She was a very loving mother and will be dearly missed. A Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Garcia Mortuary ~ Chapel of Angels, 717 Stover Ave. SW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 19, 2014 at St. Therese of the Little Flower, 300 Mildred Ave. NW.
