Mabel Garcia Duran, 86, passed away peacefully on Monday September 14, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She welcomed everyone with a big warm smile, a twinkle in her eyes, and a loving embrace. She always made everyone feel welcome in her home.
Mabel was born in Carnuel, New Mexico on August 1, 1929 to Filiberto Garcia and Manelita De Atocha Gonzales Garcia. She met and married the love of her life Fidencio Duran in 1948. They shared 67 years of marriage. They were always together and truly enjoyed each others company.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two loving sons David Duran in 1968 and Johnny Duran in 1981; special grandson Richard Baca in 2004; sisters, Vivianita Gurule, Margaret Herrera, Rosita Geer; brothers, Benardino Garcia, Lorenzo Garcia and Santos Garcia.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Fidencio Duran; daughter Sally Duran; son Julian Duran and wife, Mary Ann, her loving son and caregiver, Robert Duran, and her loyal companion “Rusty”; one sister, Dominia Sanchez; one brother Henry Garcia; sister in law Leonardita Montano; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and the neighbors from the “Caminos”
Mabel will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Lord have Mercy on her soul and let perpetual light shine upon her.
A Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2015 at Garcia Mortuary~Chapel of Angels, 717 Stover Ave. SW, with a Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Evangelico Cemetery, 3816 Blake Road SW.
