Juan José Romero Sr.
January 23, 1933 – October 31, 2026
Our beloved Juan José Romero Sr., born January 23, 1933, in Clovis, New Mexico, went to be with Our Lord on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at 5:14 p.m., surrounded by the love of his family.
Juan was preceded in death by the love of his life, his beloved wife, Christine Maria Romero; his sons, Pat, Ricky, and Manuel; his daughter, Elizabeth; his grandson, Roman; his great-granddaughter, Angelica, affectionately known as “Jelly Donuts”; his parents, Ramon and Maggie; and six brothers and three sisters.
He leaves behind his brother, Raymond (Margie); his children, Johnny Joe (Carolyn), Johanna, Karen, Margie (Pablo), and Karla/Tessie (Robert); and his honorary son, Little Ray (Brenda), and Rodney Lopez, son-in-law Joe Garcia Sr. His legacy continues through 27 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, and countless nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who were blessed to know him.
To know Grampo was to experience love, strength, wisdom, and an unforgettable sense of humor. He was a man whose presence filled a room and whose stories, laughter, and larger-than-life personality will forever remain in the hearts of those he loved.
In his younger years, Grampo was a champion Golden Gloves boxer. He later dedicated his career to masonry, leaving his mark throughout the Albuquerque metro area. He took great pride in his work and loved taking his family on rides around town, pointing out the many buildings and structures he had helped create. Everywhere he went, he could proudly say, “I built that.” His craftsmanship will stand for generations, just as his legacy will.
But if there was one place Grampo could never sit still, it was at a baile! He loved to dance, and finding him a seat was nearly impossible because his dance card was always full. His love for music, dancing, and life carried on until his very last day on Earth. The dance floor was his happy place, and we can only imagine the reunion dances waiting for him in Heaven.
The family warmly invites everyone who knew and loved him to join us as we celebrate the life and lay to rest our beloved Dad, Grampo, Tata, Tío, and compadre. We welcome all who wish to honor the remarkable man whose love and legacy touched so many lives.

Two honks, two flicks of the porch light, and a wave goodbye until you were out of sight…
A simple tradition, a lifetime of love, and a goodbye that will never truly be goodbye.
Until we meet again, Grampo. Save us a dance.
