Joyce Chavez, age 77, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, was embraced by the Lord Saturday, December 16, 2017 and taken to her Heavenly home. She was born in St. Louis, MO and was a resident of Albuquerque, NM.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Dorothy Tennison; brother, Richard Tennison; and a son, Christopher Chavez.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Joe A. Chavez; her children, Marybeth Duran, Joseph Chavez, James Chavez, Jane Chavez, Charles Chavez, and Richard Chavez; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends. Joyce will be greatly missed by her loving family and by those whose lives she touched.

Visitations will be Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Garcia Mortuary - Chapel of Angels, located on 8th and Iron. A rosary will be recited Thursday December 28, 2017 at 8:20 a.m. at Saint Anne Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal Rd., SW; followed by a Communion Service at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:15 a.m. Casket Bearers will be Christopher Chavez, Joseph Chavez, Gabriel Villegas, Jose Villegas, Steven Carrejo, and Jovan Carrejo. Honorary Bearers will be Michael Chandler, Paul Corona, Frank Carrejo, Ray Dominguez, Ron Anderegg, Andrea Chandler, Ella Chandler, Gracie Chandler, Megan Weinbrenner, Brella Weinbrenner, Valerie Chavez, Ileanna Chavez, Sophia Chavez, Emlee Chavez, Mariah Villegas and Tess Villegas.
