With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Josue Ivan “Chichi” Montes, who entered eternal rest on July 5, 2026, at the age of 30 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Born August 29, 1995, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Veronica Loya and Salvador Montes. He graduated from Albuquerque High School with the Class of 2013.
To know Chichi was to know laughter, kindness, and unconditional love. He had a way of bringing people together with his contagious smile, quick sense of humor, and genuine heart. Above all, he treasured his family and loved spending time with those he cared about most. His greatest wish was always for his family to remain united.
Josue enjoyed watching football with his mom even though they were rivals, he loved fishing especially with his sister Janelle. He loved creating lasting memories with his loved ones and capturing memories. He was a member of Casa del Rey and found joy in sharing life’s simple moments with family and friends. He also adored his beloved dog, “La Perdida,” who brought him endless companionship and happiness.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Raul Loya Tarango, and his beloved dog, MJ, who held a special place in his heart.
Josue is lovingly survived by his parents, Veronica Loya and Salvador Montes; his beloved grandmother, Maria “Nena” Loya; his siblings, Jasmine “Billy” Funes, Salvador “Raya” Montes, Aaron “Sinai” Garcia, and Janelle “Angel” Garcia; his cherished nephew, Valor; his precious nieces, Sage and Sofia; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were touched by his love, kindness, and unforgettable spirit.
Though our hearts are broken, we will remember Chichi for the love he gave so freely, the laughter he shared so effortlessly, and the memories he leaves behind. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Feel free to wear your favorite jersey in memory of Chichi. Just know that if you show up in a Cowboys jersey… you’re on your own. He would’ve had plenty to say about that! but let’s be honest, he’d only approve if it’s a 49ers jersey. If you wear another team, don’t worry… we’ll just pretend he didn’t see it. 😂❤️
While we deeply appreciate every expression of love and support during this difficult time, we kindly ask that, in lieu of flowers, you consider making a donation to help our family with funeral expenses.
Your generosity, prayers, and kindness mean more than words can express, and every contribution is sincerely appreciated as we honor and celebrate Josue “Chichi’s” life.
Thank you for keeping our family in your thoughts and prayers.
