In Loving Memory of Jose Inez Santillanes
It is with heavy hearts and immense love that we announce the passing of Jose “Joe” Inez Santillanes on February 21, 2026, at the age of 75. Joe was a devoted husband, a cherished father and grandfather, a proud U.S. Army veteran, and a treasured friend to many.
Born on May 20, 1950, in Albuquerque, Joe lived a life defined by feistiness, kindness, integrity, and an unwavering dedication to his family. In his early years, he honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army, carrying the discipline, strength, and sense of duty he gained there throughout his life.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jose Adolfo Santillanes; his mother, Francesca Saavedra; his sister, Martina Santillanes; and his daughter, Stefanie Santillanes.
He married the love of his life, Barbara, and together they created a home filled with laughter, warmth, and countless memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
Joe was a proud and deeply loving father to Andrea Santillanes, Monica Peña, Michelle Santillanes, and Stefanie Santillanes. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of 35 years; his daughters Andrea Santillanes (Isachar Benitez), Monica (Lalo) Peña, Michelle Santillanes (Gillie Baca), seven grandchildren, eleven great‑grandchildren, brother, Jose A (Josephine) Santillanes, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Joe had a remarkable ability to make others laugh, supported, and cared for, and he touched the lives of all who had the honor of knowing him. His legacy of love, strength, service, and resilience will continue to shine through his family and all those whose lives he touched.
