GALLEGOS – John Nepumoceno, Jr. Born in Albuquerque and raised in Socorro, NM. John N. Gallegos Jr. passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at Presbyterian Hospital. John was the son of John N. Gallegos, Sr. and Adeline Z. Gallegos of Socorro and Old Town Albuquerque. John Jr. attended San Felipe School in Old Town and Mt. Carmel School in Socorro, NM where he graduated from Socorro High School. He then went on to NM Highlands University. John, aka John Nep and Herc, as his family called him, was a dedicated Lobo fan and sports enthusiast. Not to mention a true classic rocker and vinyl aficionado. He was a very loving, kind and gentle soul. He was an amazing brother and his presence in our lives will be immensely missed.

John is survived by his sister Annette; nieces and nephews, Jerry Anthony Gallegos Jr. (Margaret), Anthony Phillip Gallegos, Celestria Carrasco (Martin), A. Dominic Longoria (Kimberly), and Noah Montoya (David); his great-nieces and nephews, Mariah Rae Arteaga, Jerry Manuel Gallegos, Alexis Gallegos, A. Dominic Longoria, II, Anthony Peter Longoria. John Jr., was preceded in death by his mom and dad, Adeline and John Gallegos, his brother, Jerry Anthony Gallegos Sr., his paternal grandparents J.O. and Ofelia B. Gallegos of Socorro and Albuquerque and his maternal grandparents Eubaldo and Lena Duran Zamora of Old Town Albuquerque. Funeral services to take place at the Mt Calvary Cemetery Chapel at 11:00 AM on Friday, Jan 23rd, followed by the Burial Services, both at 1900 Edith Boulevard NE. Paul Bearers are: Jerry Anthony Gallegos, Sr., A. Dominic Longoria, David Montoya, Frank Lucero Jr., Pablo Gabaldon and Gary Turcich. Honorary Paul Bearers are Pete Longoria, Gregory Lucero, Esteban Duran, A. Dominic Longoria, II and Anthony Peter Longoria.
