Hagood, Jeannette Ida
Jeannette Ida Hagood went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 1, 2016. She was born on July 6, 1921 in Denver to Adolph and Elsie Schulz. Soon thereafter, the family moved to Albuquerque where Jeannette grew up and spent much of her life. On February 21, 1941, she married John Truman Hagood. His military career took them to Falls Church, Virginia; Oahu, Hawaii and Duluth, Minnesota. She and Johnny returned to Albuquerque in 1960 with their five children. Johnny passed away in 1970, Jeannette devoted herself to helping others, for many years providing services through ministries with Overseas Missionary Fellowship and Grace Church. She loved the mountains, she and her friends built two cabins in the Manzano Mountains where she lived for a number of years. This was followed by a few years when she worked at missionary retirement homes in Lancaster, PA, Orange, CA and other places, before returning once again to the Albuquerque area and service as a counselor at Grace Church. Her life was a testimony to her deep commitment to Jesus Christ and her love of people. She made many dear, close friends with whom she shared times of fellowship, prayer and devotion. She is remembered for her compassion, quick mind, love of learning, and delightful sense of humor, sometimes displayed in old fractured songs, other times in corny jokes.
Jeannette is survived by her children Ann Bright, husband Michael (Surprise, AZ), Joan Donalson and husband Jerry (Albuquerque), Carole Jasler and husband Paul (Lecanto, FL), John and wife Rhanda (Flagstaff, AZ), Paul and wife Shella (Belen); eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Her brother, Carl Schulz preceded her in death.
A private graveside service was held on May 4, 2016. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
