Filomena “Nana” R. Chavez, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, age 90, went to be with our Lord on Friday August 5, 2016 in Albuquerque, NM. She was born November 22, 1925 in La Joya, NM to Epifano and Maria Luz Romero. Nana was a homemaker, a seamstress at Levi’s, and also known as the “Queen of the Flea Market” by many. She was feisty, bold, independent, loving, wise, elegant, resilient, and unforgettable. She was cherished by many and will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gregorio Chavez; son, Wilbur.
She is survived by son, Lindel; daughters Thelma, Brenda, Elaine, and Denise; eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
A viewing will begin at 6:00 pm with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Garcia’s Mortuary Chapel of Angels on the corner of 8th and Iron on Thursday, August 11, 2016. A Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church on Friday, August 12, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at San Jose de Armijo cemetery.
