Evelyn Cherino

Evelyn Chewey Cherino was born to Samuel & Nancy (Bearpaw) Chewey on January 23, 1937, in Chewey, OK and went to be with

the good Lord and Savior at the age of 82 on May 3, 2019.

Evelyn loved all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as her extended family and friends.

She had a big heart and her door was always opened to all that came to her.

Evelyn came to Albuquerque, NM after graduating from Haskell Indian Junior College and resided in the Pueblo of Isleta

for the the remaining years of her life. Her favorite things to do were going to flea markets, yard sales & the growers market.

When returning to her home in Oklahoma, she enjoyed visiting family, gospel singings, fishing and rides around the countryside.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Willie, Henry, Mary, Ruth, Jean and Louella, all of who were from Oklahoma.

She is survived by her four children, Michael Chewey, Lynette Jaramillo, Mary Creager & Jonathan Cherino; twelve grandchildren, Michael, Rebecca,

Christopher, Cody, Jeremy, Sean, Michael, Kyle, Justina, Jaime, Jaithan, and Kayidyn; great grandchildren, Micah, Mia and Brooke.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 10, 2019, 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Garcia Mortuary ~ Chapel of Angels , Located on 8th Street and Iron, with a Prayer service to follow at 3:00 pm. Reception to follow services. She will be laid to rest at Chewey Cemetery in Chewey, OK at a later date. Pallbearers will be, Christopher Jaramillo, Jeremy Chermiah, Michael Abeita, Sean Chermiah, Cody Jaramillo and Kyle Creager.
