LOPEZ - Ernestina I. Lopez, age 91 went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 31, 2016. Ernestina grew up in Talpa, N.M. the eldest child of Felipe and Maria Pablita Martinez. Ernestina moved to Albuquerque in the mid 1940’s where she met her husband Jesse. They spent many happy years together enjoying their wonderful, large family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Ernestina was always willing to help her neighbors and those who were less fortunate than herself. She was an active member of St Edwin’s Church. She volunteered to feed the homeless, and for many years was part of the Meals on Wheels program delivering meals to the homebound. We are all very proud of our Mother, Grand Mother, Great Grand Mother, Aunt and Sister. Ernestina is preceded in death by her husband Jesse; daughter Pauline Armijo; grandsons Mark Armijo and Anthony Lopez; siblings, Toby Martinez, Tony Martinez, Manuelita E. Herrera, Louisa McCloud. She is survived by eight children; Robert J. Lopez and his wife, Priscilla, Leonard J. Lopez, Helen L. Lopez, Joseph R. Lopez and his wife, Alexandria, Fabian M. Lopez, Jesse E. Lopez, Alex J. Lopez and his wife, Letitia, John F. Lopez and his wife, Lauralee; eighteen grandchildren, Adrian Armijo, Camille Battle, Candice Lopez, Danielle Schaumburg, Leonard Lopez, Erica M. Lopez, Teresa Aragon, Jude Lopez, Danea Lopez, Jordon Lopez, Jesse E. Lopez III, James Lopez, Victoria Lopez, Nicole Gonzales, Adam Lopez, Valerie Pauline Lopez, Jason Salaz and Claressa Bellah; eighteen great-grandchildren; sibling, Josefa Pacheco; in-laws, Frances Vargas, Bernadette Ramsey, Ray Lopez and Richard Lopez. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at Garcia Mortuary on 8th Street, followed by the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Edwin's Catholic Church. Interment will be immediately following at Mount Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, New Mexico Chapter 9500 Montgomery NE, Suite 121 Albuquerque, NM 87111. Pallbearers will be Adrian Armijo, Christian Armijo, Dion Battle, Adam Lopez, Jesse Lopez and Jude Lopez. Honorary Pall Bearers will be James Lopez, Joseph Lopez and John Lopez.
