Erlinda Montoya

Erlinda Montoya, age 95, passed away peacefully into the arms of Our Lord on April 16, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 31, 1929, in Entranosa, NM to Avelino and Delodia Garcia.

Erlinda raised her family in Albuquerque, NM. She enjoyed listening to Spanish music and was an avid reader. Erlinda was a devoted Catholic always praying for her family.

Erlinda is survived by her children, Raymond Apodaca, Della Bazan (George), Stella Padilla, Patsy Johnson (Cliff), Helen Mosley, Yolanda Apodaca, Julio Apodaca, Richard Mares, Michelle Garcia, Jessica Mares, Frances Lucas (Mike), Hilda Munoz, Suzie Gates and daughter in law Angel Mares; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; brothers, Gustavo Garcia (Theresa), and Gene Garcia, and sisters Mary A. Irish and Lupita Garcia and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Avelino and Delodia Garcia; son Oracio E. Mares; grandchildren, Oracio Mares Jr., Julio G. Apodaca Jr., Joseph Garcia, and Damian Marquez; sisters, Mabel Stogsdill, Adelina Minchow and brothers, Jose E. Garcia, Richard Garcia, Alvita Garcia.

Viewing will be held at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106, on April 25, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
A vistiation will be held on Friday May 17, 2024 at Santuario de San Martin De Porres Catholic Church 8321 Camino San Martin SW at 10:00 am with a rosary to be recited at 10:30am and a Mass to follow at 11:00 am. Inurnment will follow in Sedillio, NM after mass.
