Enedina “Ene” Perez De La Fuente was born on May 22, 1940, to mother Rosalia Hernandez in Alpine, TX. She was raised in Alpine, TX and graduated from Alpine High School in 1959. In the mid-seventies she created a cub scout pack in Albuquerque to support her son and other boys in the community. She supported her daughters through Brownies.

On June 13, 1984, Ene lost the love of her life, James J. De La Fuente. Through this hardship and with the support of her children she continued her education. She graduated with her Associates of Arts in Human Services on May 11, 1991. She continued to pursue her education and attained her Bachelor of Science in Family Studies on May 15, 1993.
