Gauna, Debra Jane
passed away on February 6, 2019 in her home in the company of her family and loved ones following a decades long battle with cancer.
She was preceded in death by her, father, Edward Gauna; niece, Miranda Gauna-Lopez; maternal grandparents, Eusebio and Dolores Muller; paternal grandparents, Willie and Josephine Gauna.
She is survived by her, mother, Jane Muller; children, Alex, Amanda, Gabriella and Marriah Gauna; granddaughter, Laila Martinez; sisters, Janet and Elizabeth Gauna; nieces, Brittney (Robbie and Jacob), Angel, Jasmine and Marissa; brother, Leroy and wife, Anita Gonzales; her friend and companion, Saul Vega and many aunts, uncles, cousins and oh so many friends.
Debbie also known as Deb, Debra, Grandma, Mama and "Mom" (to more than just her own kids) is the most amazing woman we have ever known. There was no one kinder, stronger, more generous or a better friend.
Debbie was the CEO and owner of J&D Foods Inc. since 1990, a family company founded by her parents in 1977. Under her guidance the company expanded regionally and globally, but more importantly she made sure to always take care of customers in the Albuquerque community through framers markets, pop-ups and her store. She was beloved by all her customers and associates. The only thing more important than her company was her family.
Debbie was first and foremost a dedicated mother, she cherished her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved being Grandma to her "Laila-bug" who she will miss greatly. She was a devoted daughter. She was the right hand of her mother Jane Muller and she carried the spirit of her father everywhere she went.
She had countless friends that she loved very much. She had a bright and vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh and feel welcomed. Debbie's love was boundless and pure. Once she decided she loved you, that was it, she was keeping you. Her laughter was contagious and her love ubiquitous, when you were in her presence you knew that whatever happened you were safe and you were cared for.
Before she passed she wanted everyone she loved to know that she loved them. She knew that she was lucky to have such amazing and wonderful people who loved her in her life. She also believed, despite how short her time was, her life was meaningful and full and even after her death she would continue to live on and grow in our hearts and minds and in the world around us.
A Celebration of life for Debbie Gauna will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Menaul High School, 301 Menaul Blvd. NE at 2:00 pm in honor of her 51st Birthday. All family and friends are welcomed to come share and celebrate in her honor.
