Carlos Alberto Gomez, age 54, passed away on September 20, 2026.

Carlos was a dedicated and valued employee at the University of New Mexico (UNM) in Albuquerque, NM, where he worked for the past 20 years.

Outside of work, Carlos loved the open road. He loved riding his motorcycle, camping, taking his grandkids 4-Wheeling, and traveling to new destinations. Above all else, Carlos cherished his time surrounded by his family and friends, who will always remember his warmth, spirit, funny jokes and most importantly- the love he had for his family.

Carlos was there for his family through thick and thin and was the type of person that would give you the shirt off his back if needed. He was an incredible dad, son, brother, and grandfather and will be missed tremendously.

He is survived by his two daughters Carla Jaramillo and Madisol Gomez, his two granddaughters Janessa East and Alyssa East, his siblings Graciela Gomez, Yvonne Gomez, Rose Gomez, and Veronica Baros, as well as his dear best friend Lydia Atencio.

His greatest legacy will not be measured in years of service or miles traveled, but in the memories he created, the laughter he shared, and the lives he touched along the way. The love he gave so freely will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever. Carlos will be deeply missed, but his memory will remain a lasting source of love and strength for all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Graciela Ramirez, whom he missed so deeply since her passing and now gets to be reunited with once again.

Services to honor and celebrate Carlos's life will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Garcia Mortuary located at 717 Stover Ave SW in Albuquerque, NM 87102 followed by a reception at Sol Event Palace located at 1413 Eubank Blvd NE ABQ NM 87112.
