Beatrice S. Tafoya

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of our sister and aunt Beatrice Sisneros Tafoya on February 28, 2023. She received the sacrament of Anointing that morning. Beatrice was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on March 8, 1927. She was baptized on March 13, 1927 at Sacred Heart Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesus Tafoya and Patrocinia Sisneros; her brothers, Henry, Antonio, Manuel, Joaquin, Federico, and Tomas and her sisters Lillie Tafoya and Corina Baca.

Beatrice is survived by her sister, Sophie Trujillo and her niece, Theresa Baca who lived with her and took care of her the past 4 plus years. As well as 22 nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

Beatrice worked for the New Mexico Human Service Department for 38 years as the Receptionist.

She was a devout Catholic and always encouraged us to attend Mass and pray. She spent much time at home praying Novenas, reading religious pamphlets and books as well as reading health magazines and giving us tips for a healthy life.

During the last 32 years, after retirement, she rode the city bus daily to downtown Albuquerque. On her rides Monday – Saturday she met friends and former clients she had worked with. She was very generous and would share with anyone she met. Downtown she attended Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, visited the library and went to movies. Her favorite places to eat at in years past was Lindy’s. Later it was McDonald’s and Golden Pride where she ate her breakfast burrito with a side of green chili and a cup of coffee with chocolate milk. The staff at Golden Pride treated her kindly and knew her daily order and had it ready for her.

Beatrice visited her sister Sophie in Nambe and they would go to dances, which they both loved. The pandemic kept her home the last years of her life. Her nieces and nephew, Theresa, Patricia, Leila and Joseph attended TV Mass with Aunt Bea every Sunday morning.

A Visitation will be held on Monday, March 13, 2013 from 8:00-8:30 with a Rosary to be recited at 8:30 by Sophia Rodriguez and a Mass of Christian Burial by Father Patrick Schafer to be celebrated at 9:00 am at Holy Family Church at 562 Atrisco Drive SW, Albuquerque, NM. Burial will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery 611 Foothill Rd SW, off of Old Coors Road and Sunset Gardens.
