Montoya, Arsenio Pedro

Age 91, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2019 surrounded by his seven children at his home in Los Lunas, NM. He was born on July 5, 1927 in Socorro, NM.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life for 18 years his wife, Viola.

Arsenio is survived by his seven children, Yvonne Gonzales and significant other, Walter Gallegos, Gilbert Montoya and wife, Viola, Sammy Montoya and wife, Ilene, Anita Baca, Bernice Montoya and husband, David Weintraub, Grace Montoya and Mary Frances Romero and husband, Michael; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; two brothers, Cardeno Montoya and wife, Jan and Albert Montoya and wife, Josie, sister in law, Theresa Armijo; he also leaves behind many cherished nephews, nieces and many good friends.

He served in two wars the Korean and World War II with the US Navy and US Army. He worked for Sandia National Laboratories for 37 years and retired in 1985. He was very active in the communities of Alameda and Los Lunas, NM. He belonged to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church and moved from Alameda, NM to Los Lunas, NM in 1986 and was a member of San Clemente Catholic Church. He served in the Lions International Club in different positions for 1980 to 1992. He was a charitable giver affiliated to the Catholic Church, political parties, police and fire department along with many friends and family members. His loyalty, love and humor will forever be cherished by his family and friends.

A Visitation will take place from 6:00-7:00 pm at Garcia Mortuary ~ Chapel of Angels, on the corner of 8th and Iron with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 2, 2019. A Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at 10:00 am at San Clemente Catholic Church, 244 Luna Rd, NE, Los Lunas.

Pallbearers will include his grandsons, Dominic Montoya, Andres Montoya, Adam Lee Baca, Brandon Baca, Isaac Montoya, Roman Montoya, David Gonzales, Joshua Romero and Jose Montoya. To view information or leave a condolence please visit www.garciamortuary.com
