Alicia De Tevis Sanchez

January 24, 1944 — December 23, 2023

Yes, we are of good courage, we would rather be  absent from the body and present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8

Alicia DeTevis Sanchez, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on December 23, 2023, in Albuquerque, NM. She was surrounded by her loving family during her final moments. Alicia was born on January 24, 1944, in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Raised in Silver City, NM, Alicia moved to Albuquerque in search of new opportunities. Little did she know that this move would mark the beginning of a beautiful love story. It was in Albuquerque where she met the love of her life, Federico Sanchez Sr. They exchanged vows in February 8,1962 and embarked on a lifelong journey together.

Alicia and Fred dedicated themselves to raising their beautiful family in Albuquerque. Their home was always filled with laughter, love, and joy. Alicia cherished every moment spent with her six children: Lisa Pulliam and her husband Rob, Freddie Sanchez, Christopher Sanchez and his wife Marisol, James Sanchez and his wife Deborah, Janel Armijo and her husband Michael, Jennifer Garcia and her husband Keith.

Alice had a magnetic personality that drew people towards her. Her wit and intelligence were evident in every conversation she had. She had an extraordinary ability to make people feel comfortable in her presence with her kindness and sweet nature.

Alice had a zest for life that was infectious to all those around her. She loved traveling the world with Fred by her side and going on cruises that created memories to last a lifetime. One of Alice's favorite pastimes was visiting the local casinos where she would enjoy gambling games with friends or catching up while trying her luck at the slot machines.

As a wonderful storyteller, Alice's car rides were always filled with laughter and nostalgic tales from her younger days. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren would eagerly listen to these anecdotes as they admired the strong woman before them.

Family meant everything to Alice; she treasured the moments spent with her loved ones. She was a pillar of strength, always offering support and guidance when needed. Her love and devotion knew no bounds, making her not only a beloved wife and mother but an adored grandmother and great-grandmother.

Alice is reunited in eternal peace with her husband, Fred Sanchez Sr., her son, Freddy Sanchez Jr., her parents, Pedro and Mamie DeTevis, as well as other cherished family members who have preceded her in death. While we mourn the loss of Alicia, we find solace in knowing that she is now surrounded by the warm embrace of those who have gone before her.

Alicia DeTevis Sanchez will forever be remembered for the love she shared, the values she instilled, and the laughter she brought into this world. May her spirit continue to guide and inspire us all as we carry on her legacy.
