Castillo, Alex Michael
Age 60, passed away Friday, January 28, 2022. He was born in Belen, NM on January 6, 1962. Alex was born in Belen to Elias and Esther. He moved to Albuquerque at a young age, then moved to Massachusetts and graduated from Brighten High School. He had his two children then and joined the U. S. Army and was a sergeant and served two terms in Saudi Arabia and received two bronze services star medals, Army acheivemnt medal and a 3D award. He was a driver, mechanic, badge wheel mechanic for the Army reserve and received a medal. After serving in the military he went on to be a fire fighter in NM. Fighting fires in CA, UT, OK. Alex retires in Belen, NM. Alex then enjoyed fishing, ranching, the casino and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elias Castillo and Esther Sanchez; siblings, Elias Castillo Jr., Dolores Castillo and wife, Ana Castillo.
Alex is survived by his children, Michelle Castillo and fiancé, Hector Carrizales, Michael Castillo Jerysol Bierroa and significat other, Victor Cabrera; grandchildren, Anahy Castillo, Adriana Castillo, Kayliana Nunez, Dariel Nunez, Naveed Carrizalez, Maria Berroa, Jeryeli Calero; one great grandchild, Aleida Sanchez; siblings, Joseph O. Castillo and fiance, Eileen Estes, Joann Sanchez.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 from 8:00-10:00 am with a Rosary to be recited at 10:00 am and a mass to be celebrated at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 309 Stover Ave. SW. Interment to be held on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 9:45 am at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
